Easy Buttermilk Biscuits

Anyone can bust open a can of biscuits, but fortunately this homemade recipe is so easy that anyone can make them.

One tip I would give would be to make sure the sides are touching each other on the baking sheet. That is how they rise and get fluffy. You can keep them an inch or so apart, however they will stay flat. Top them with homemade gravy and your kitchen will smell like Sunday morning at mamaws.

Easy Buttermilk Biscuits

Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: Southern

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 stick Cold Butter diced
  • 1 cup Buttermilk

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the diced butter and mix in with your hands until crumbly.
  • Stir in the milk until a soft dough forms. It will be shaggy and a little sticky.
  • Place the dough onto a well floured board. Add small amount of flour to top of dough to prevent sticking to the rolling pin.
  • Roll out to 3/4" thickness. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut into circles.
  • Place on a baking sheet with the sides of the biscuits touching each other.
  • Bake in a preheated 425° degree oven for 10-12 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
