Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: Southern

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 stick Cold Butter diced
  • 1 cup Buttermilk

Method

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the diced butter and mix in with your hands until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the milk until a soft dough forms. It will be shaggy and a little sticky.
  4. Place the dough onto a well floured board. Add small amount of flour to top of dough to prevent sticking to the rolling pin.
  5. Roll out to 3/4" thickness. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut into circles.
  6. Place on a baking sheet with the sides of the biscuits touching each other.
  7. Bake in a preheated 425° degree oven for 10-12 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
